This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It's time to reflect and refine our goals for 2023! Last year, my students and I completed the 180 day picture book challenge, however this school year I decided to hold off on the challenge. And guess what? I miss it so much! So...In January, our all inclusive classroom family will begin taking part in a picture book challenge with an emphasis on reading aloud one picture book for each school day.
Weaving narratives that share the struggles and triumphs of cultures, races, and genders throughout my yearly curriculum empowers my students to be the next generation of change makers in our world.
These books build community, spark meaningful conversations, strengthen students' appreciation of identities and encourage students to use their voice to lift others. My students are building deeper interpretations of inclusive narratives and expository text. The picture books selected for this project give my students the opportunity to see themselves in our fourth-grade curriculum, as well as windows into new perspectives and identities.
Readers love stickers and I love rewarding my readers! The California stickers will bring smiles to all my students.
