This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are beyond thrilled to be able to bring real literature back into the classroom on a regular basis. Now all we need are the books!
My students work hard to succeed.
I am proud of their efforts and their growth each day. Nearly all of these students come from families that have little in the way of money for supplies. Our central California school is small in size, but big in heart!
My Project
My students will read these high quality novels throughout the school year. Our small group reading circles will build vocabulary and comprehension while enjoying classic literature. They will practice close reading of the text to make logical inferences and focus on critical thinking skills. Students will have rich conversations that build on both the text and their own world knowledge.
This project will serve my students for many years to come.
Students never forget reading high quality novels. Having multiple copies of each text will allow my students to read the same book as their peers to improve reading, writing, speaking, listening and critical thinking skills.
