Most of my teaching career, having lots of movement happening in my classroom kept things interesting. Now, having a classroom full of high school biology students who try to avoid any movement whenever possible, bringing LIFE into our space requires a tank full of life-- FISH! Although they have less of the outward curiosity expressed by younger students, they are still full of wonder and appreciation for enrichment they get from the little extra things like having a vibrant fish tank ecosystem in class. The vivid, rapid movement of fish as they interact within their community is just what my high schoolers need.
