Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My transitional kindergarten students bring energy and joy to our classroom daily.

They enter the virtual classroom bouncing and skipping, ready to embrace the day.

They are bright and curious and look forward to each new classroom experience. These young cherubs are thinkers, creators, problem solvers, and collaborators. I want to bring rich experiences and tap into their insatiable appetite and natural curiosity to learn. Providing them access to collaborative and innovative hands-on and heads-on learning in an exciting and motivating way while opening doors to the magic of school experience is essential. Even though our class meets virtually for now, we are still a beautiful community of learners.

What better way to help build a caring community than by creating an environment of choice, empathy, and respect for one another than through a comfortable and rich learning environment with options.

I want to give them opportunities and tools that will help them as they continue to grow and learn.

My Project

Puppets help students develop storytelling skills and expand literacy skills. They are a creative, fun medium for preschoolers to listen to and retell stories. Puppets help children develop narrative skills, remember sequencing when retelling a story, and make listening to a story an enjoyable experience.

Puppets can help students find the fun in reading while developing early literacy skills.

Puppets can be a motivator for reluctant readers and children who may be reluctant to share their feelings. This can all lead to better vocabulary development and greater phonological development. I will use these these puppets at storytime for my youngest students to engage them at storytime on Zoom.
