My students need the admission fee covered to participate in the Moo to You program at Pineland Farms and round trip bus transportation for this field trip. This exposure will create my students' background knowledge in order to enhance their academic achievement.
Our students are multicultural diverse second graders in Lewiston, Maine. Our students speak up to six different languages and come from several different countries. Many of our students lack the experiences a typical second grade student participates in and enjoys which would develop their prior knowledge and skills to apply to academic learning situations.
Our students are loving, curious, and eager to learn about the world around them.
Due to our limited resources, we cannot provide enrichment opportunities that will help increase their understanding of the world around them.
My Project
Our students will study interdependent relationships in ecosystems as pertaining to our Common Core Science Standards and Writing Standards. We will be learning how plants and animals depend on each other. We will also learn that there are many different kinds of living things in any area, and they depend on one another. We will also connect this learning to healthy living and making good life long healthy choices.
Our students will benefit from experiences and lessons that teach them how to make healthy choices for their growth and development.
This project will enable my students to participate in the Moo to You program at Pineland Farms, and this project also provides round trip bus transportation for this field trip.
While at the farm, students will make observations of plants and animal and will compare the different habitats. They will bring their experiences from the farm back to the classroom in order to write informational books, projects, etc. to share with the community.
