My students need a MakerBot Academy 3D Printing Bundle to experience the magic of 3D printing and watch their United States History projects come alive!
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Jackson's classroom raised $2,453

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are all creative and love making their U.S. History projects different, unusual, and special. I give them the freedom to create what they wish as they try to synthesize their content knowledge and "show" what they know. The newest way I hope to make this happen is with 3D printing!
Our school has 380 students who are all recent immigrants, come from over 52 countries, and speak over 30 languages.
They are hard working, supportive of one another, dedicated to their education and their families, and want to experience as much of the American Dream as immigrants throughout history. Many work to support their families, and many more take care of most of the family responsibilities.
They are not the children of diplomats, but of day laborers and bodega workers. They desire to have a successful and fruitful life in America, and truly understand that education is the first stepping stone to their new journey.
They show up everyday, work hard, and appreciate all that is provided to them by our city and country.
As a school, we work hard to provide them with the tools and technology that many wealthier and better funded schools provide for their students on a daily basis. 3D Printing would be a great addition to our U.S. History classroom and increase the range of projects.
My Project
I hope for my students to use the 3D printing to create uniquely designed symbols of their own that represent different historical units and topics that we study.
My students are all English language learners, and very "visual" learners. We use symbolism often to help explain and illustrate people, places, events, and ideas. 3D printing will help this endeavor.
I also envision the students creating topographical maps and scenes from U.S. History.
All in all, I feel that it will be a cool addition to the class and the project-based curriculum we use.
Your donation to this project will allow some students to see history in a different way, make learning about their new country more fun and interesting, and allow them to be more creative in all that they do.
