My students need these boomwhackers because its a different, hands-on way to play music. Its teaching them teamwork to create a song as well as responsibility to play for themselves.

My Students
I have been teaching at this school since March 2015. I teach in a kindergarten to 8th grade school with around 400 students; I see all of them.
Since I am in a poverty stricken neighborhood, resources are very limited.
Parts to my keyboard lab are breaking and the students are getting frustrated. Also, school supplies are paid for out of pocket. Since I am the music teacher, I am not included in the back to school lists. Being a young, new teacher, this is very challenging to support myself and my classroom. The reason I am asking for this is because my students deserve a classroom that right now I can not give them. I want to help my students in every way and I hope you can help me, help them.
Musically yours, Rebecca
My Project
When this project is fully funded, all of my students will be able to have instruments in their hands during my lessons instead of waiting for them. They will be able to create songs and play for themselves instead of watching classmates until its their turn.
Boomwhackers give my students a new way to read music.
Boomwhackers give the students the opportunity to read music via colors and hand signals rather than a note on a page. It also is great way for improvisation because they can organize using colors rather than letters.
My students will use these instruments to learn teamwork in the music classroom to play songs. They will learn how important just one note is in the larger song, just like they are in the world.
