My Project
My 6th grade students are thoughtful, curious, and full of imagination—but lately, our reading list has been pretty heavy. From The Boy in the Striped Pajamas to Where the Red Fern Grows, they’ve been diving into powerful stories that are also deeply emotional and frankly, sad.
While these books are important, my students deserve to experience the joy of reading too; They need stories that make them laugh, cheer, and feel excited to turn the next page.
Books like The Lightning Thief have shown me how much they light up when they’re immersed in fast-paced adventures, magical worlds, or laugh-out-loud moments.
This project will bring in a fresh selection of fun, engaging, age-appropriate books that will remind my students how awesome reading can be. I’m requesting titles with stories full of action, humor, and hope.
With your help, we can balance out the heavy themes with books that are exciting, uplifting, and just plain fun. Thank you for helping bring the joy of reading back into our classroom!
