This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help us get a mobile computer workstation for our classroom! I currently teach first grade in Chicago. I have 29 students enrolled in my class. According to the Illinois State Board of Education 98% of the students were below poverty income in 2008-2009.

The majority of my students are ELL (English Language Learners) students, which means that they are beginners in the English language.

We are so fortunate that we recently received a PC tablet computer for our classroom through a previous donors choose grant. I have been using this PC tablet in the classroom daily to further enhance my teaching by providing my ELL students with visuals during lessons. Visuals are some of the best tools for teaching ELL students.

My Project

This computer is truly providing my students with a chance to engage with technology and even though they are considered high poverty they now get a chance at a quality education in the 21st century. Now we need your help to get a mobile computer workstation to hold the PC tablet computer while it is in use and to securely store it in the locking cabinet that is included in this workstation. This computer is very valuable to us and we would hate to have it stolen, it would be a great loss!

With your generosity, we can get a computer work station for our prized PC tablet computer!

Please help prepare my students for the future by providing them with access to technology; it is the best gift they can receive!
