My Project
COVID took many things away from my students, one of the biggest things they lost was the ability to have hands on engaging learning opportunities. Students have shown that they thrive when they are able to see what they are learning and see it in action, this helps them understand the "why".
These requested materials would provide me with the opportunity to engage my students through STEAM and help me encourage a love of hands on learning and creating.
These resources will promote many of the content standards for my students. Examples of the standards they will promote are Science 5-PS2-1, 5-PS2-1, 3-5-ETS1-1, 3-5-ETS1-2, 3-5-ETS1-3, SEP-1 through SEP-8, CCC-1 through CCC-7, Math 5.MD.A.1, 5.MD.B.2, 5.MD.C.3.
The resources I am requesting will be used through multiple subject levels. Students will be able to use the materials to and model the change in matter. The resources will be used to show how Earth's gravitational force works, they will be able to see how items are visually pulled down. The materials will help students design projects to solve a problem, generate multiple solutions, and carry out tests that they have planned. All of the resources will be able to help students solve a problem through hands on learning and applying their own thoughts. The stem bins will allow the students to have a place to store materials so they can be properly sanitized in between uses. The composition notebooks will provide students with a place do document and graph their research. The vocabulary material will help build their knowledge through displaying what they are learning.
Finally, all of the resources together will help work on the grade 5 health standard (5)1.2. These resources will help by encouraging the students to work with their hands with fun engaging STEM projects.
