My Students

My new ESE PreK class (iPEEPS) is located in one of Hillsborough County's Achievement schools. 100% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Children are placed into my class for a variety of reasons. My class size, the age of my students, and the disabilities my students have varies every year. My class currently has 3 students (and grows throughout the year with short notice), but I also work with the two other ESE classes. Our students have disabilities ranging from Autism, Down Syndrome, visual impairments, and other developmental, social/emotional and language/communication delays. Their personalities and needs are different. With the age and learning gap, it’s important to have differentiated instruction, engaging activates and to provide one on one or very small group instructions to teach based on each students needs.

Our main goal is to teach them how to love school.

We also aim to improve their Communication Skills, Independent Functioning Skills and most importantly Social/Emotional Skills. We want our students to learn how to be loving, kind and independent members of society. We don’t create excuses for them but give them (and the people they interact with) the tools and skills they need to be successful.

My Project

Last year I received a colored printer for my classroom but underestimated how much I would use it, and the cost of ink. I am in desperate need of HP ink to continue creating colorful resources for my ESE students. Throughout my classroom, I post labels, images, and pictures in color so my students can better relate and make real-life connections. I send home letters, activities and pictures to encourage family involvement.

The ink allows me to be more creative by allowing me to create individualized materials to fit my students’ unique needs so they can be successful in the classroom and aid their learning and understanding of the topics we discuss.

The ink will also allow me to complete my everyday tasks and paperwork needed for my classroom and ESE teacher duties. It allows me convenience, and I can better manage my time so I am always prepared, as I will be able to make copies and print in my classroom! Having ink for my classroom printer will also help me when I need to make quick changes during my lessons to better suit my students' needs.
