This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an ICT-class in the heart of Brooklyn, Brighton Beach! My students are a mixture of ENL and Special Education students who are in the process of being prepared for high school. Most of my students live in poverty and I do everything I can to meet their needs daily. They have so much fun learning the skills they need to be successful. They have dreams of being future professionals and contributing to the professional world. I love to make their learning creative and enjoyable. When I increase my knowledge with the use of current technology, it reflects in my lessons, instruction, and their achievements.
My Project
I would like to request a MacBook to assist me with accessing a wider variety of professional development as well as opportunities in and using current technology. A MacBook would allow and help me to access Apple's Education modules on the web. Apple offers and has many online courses through iTunes U and podcasts that can help me create a digital environment in my class and that would benefit my future students. By having a MacBook, it would allow me to participate in webinars, and have access to educational apps. I have seen how some of my colleagues have integrated technology in their classrooms and I believe that a MacBook would allow me to develop and integrate technology into my lessons. My goal is to build my knowledge and use of technology as a pivotal part of my instruction so that I can provide a diverse learning environment that is crucial to all my students' various learning needs.
