My Students

In today's classroom technology is essential. It motivates students and opens doors for them that would not be possible otherwise.

Outside of the classroom, my 6th grade students' lives revolve around technology.

Unfortunately, in the classroom they have little opportunity to utilize it. I teach 6th grade ELA and Geography to approximately 60 students a day. These students vary in academic ability, socioeconomic and learning styles. The use of technology allows all students a deeper understand of the content and allows for added support.

My Project

With the use of the AppleTV students will allow students to present media-based projects to the class, giving them more opportunities than a simple poster project. I will able be able to use the iPad and AppleTV to enhance the lesson at hand. For example instead of simply reading about Alcatraz in the novel, "Al Capone Does My Shirts", my students will be able to see it, aiding in their visualization. It will also allow me to project from anywhere in the classroom so that my back never has to be to the students.

Donations to this project will help give students the opportunity to use technology in an educational way.

In doing so, it will prepare them for not only future grades but also for the workforce which is becoming increasingly reliant on technological ability.
