I work in a Title I school with some of the most amazing, creative, and hard-working students. More than 60% of my students come from a lower socioeconomic home. Many of my students are ESL, and many more qualify for special education.
I have the best students, and I want to give them the best!
Because of the daily obstacles my students face, some of them find education very challenging. Many come to school without their basic needs being met, so it is hard for them to focus on math, science, or reading. I try to think outside of the box so that my kids are engaged and want to learn.
My Project
Our current classroom 3D printer is dying. I have had our printer for several years now and after being used on a daily basis, it's time to get a new one.
My students love learning with 21st century tools.
The 3D printer will be used for math, reading, science, social studies, and behavioral incentives. Students show their understanding of different concepts and ideas by creating models in the 3D printing program. While creating a model, they are also learning 21st century skills, such as problem-solving, communication, creativity, and collaboration. I also have a daily mystery student who gets to print something from Thingiverse. My students love working extra hard each day to earn the opportunity to print something.
Our class will be forever grateful for your consideration in supporting us. Thank you!
