Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students enrolled in this middle school are bright, eager, and curious scholars with a desire for learning. Most of these students will be first-generation college students: they know and understand that education is the key to success.

The books in the library should be in decent condition, contain accurate information, and be relevant and engaging.

Though these students live in a poverty-stricken community, their lives are filled with a wealth of resiliency, persistence, and determination. These students deserve to have a library that is a safe, inviting, comfortable space where they can come to read, work independently, or in groups.

My Project

The books listed in this project are all written by exceptional African American authors. The books feature the resilient stories and voices of African American characters. Characters like Isabella in "Blended" and Bryan in "Tight" will take students on extraordinary adventures of self-discovery and acceptance in a world that is often filled with social and racial injustice.

Students must have access to books by African American authors, featuring African American characters.

These books will bring students colorful and vibrant stories that reinforce the idea that African American stories are worthy of being told. Access to these books will help highlight for students the importance and significance of African American voices and stories in literature.
