My students need 25 cursive writing workbooks, 1 cursive book for homework practice, 1 cursive workbook for "when I'm done" time, and 1 read aloud about cursive writing.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What one skill do you need to submit an application for a job or school, close a letter, and sign a check? The ability to write in cursive. Cursive writing is everywhere in our world, yet many students today never learn it!
I teach Third graders in a New York public school who go home to houses, apartments or shelters with little to no materials to succeed in school.
My high-achieving Third grade class is in an extremely low-income community, and is made up of students who want to do well and want to learn as much as they can, but struggle to find the resources to do so.
My Project
Years ago, cursive writing was built into the curriculum and students were provided with cursive writing handouts or books, but this is no longer the case. In order to successfully teach my students how to write in cursive, my classroom would benefit from having a workbook for each student. My 25 students each need a cursive writing workbook. As I demonstrate the writing on our Smart Board, each student can practice in his or her workbook at the same time, using my modeling for guidance. I will use one of the other workbooks to reproduce homework pages, and the cursive riddle workbook for "when I'm done" time in class. The read aloud about cursive writing will be a nice touch to start off our handwriting unit.
Without these workbooks, my students will struggle in learning how to write in cursive...a skill they will need for the rest of their lives.
By making a donation to this project, you are ensuring that 25 deserving children do not fall through the "cursive writing crack." After all, one of these 25 students might one day become the president to sign the most influential bill of all time...and because of your donation, he or she will do so in script!
