My Students

We are a neighborhood school serving the community since l927. In addition to general education students, our students represent 23 language groups, many of them English language learners, and students with special needs. Our mission is to develop joyful learners by providing them with support, encouragement, and opportunities for challenge.

Our students are enthusiastic learners who thrive on creativity and being challenged!

They are motivated by high-interest level curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities. They also love being able to explore, create new things, and are highly motivated by student-centered learning. We are always looking for ways to provide them with tools that will help them maximize their potential.

My Project

The Pathfinders Summer Institute is a wonderful professional development and collaborative opportunity for teachers. I am hoping to be funded to attend the Microsoft MakeCode session which will expand my knowledge of teaching hands-on computer science using block coding and text editing to learners at different levels. MakeCode makes it simple to program microcontroller-based devices using a modern web app. MakeCode projects are fun and engaging and will provide that challenge to our students, who are all ready to move up a level with their coding. These learning experiences will help students make the connections to real-world applications of programming.
