This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 6th grade in a school where 85% of our students are receiving free or reduced lunches. Our classroom is in great need of some ink cartridges.
Last year, a Canon MP500 printer was donated to our classroom, but the ink had run out. The printer benefited all of the kids in my classroom. Currently, our computers in the classroom are printing to an old black and white printer. The donated printer with fresh ink cartridges would really liven our classroom.
Kids love to print their work because it makes them take pride in their writing. Having a working color printer would give the kids in my class the opportunity to add pictures to stories they type. This would definitely motivate my students to want to work on their assignments.
In addition to printing their own writings. Students will be able to print out their PowerPoint presentations, pictures to be used for projects, and crafts that we do for parents throughout the year.
I hope that you consider funding the ink cartridges for our color printer. My students and I will be very appreciative.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
