This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my scholars come from low-income households where daily life can be challenging and unpredictable. Despite this, they are eager readers who love checking out books from the library. However, returning books on time can be a struggle—whether it’s due to transportation issues, changing living arrangements, or simply not having a consistent routine.

That’s why I’m launching a quarterly incentive program to encourage and reward students who return all of their library books on time.

These small but meaningful rewards—such as pencils, stickers, bookmarks, or a treat—can make a big difference in helping students build responsible habits and stay engaged with reading.

Your support will help remove one more barrier to literacy and responsibility for kids who already face so many. Together, we can create a system where students feel proud, motivated, and excited to return to the library again and again.
