My 6th grade students love hands on learning. Creating a game or a poster gives them the independence to show what they know.
We are a high poverty school system with two middle schools.
Our students struggle with issues that many of us could never imagine, nor ever want an eleven year-old to go through. Often the bright spot in their day is coming to school. I work very hard to make our classroom a positive and inviting place to be.
My Project
Science and Art go together so well. I love to let the kids build models and make posters, but the materials can be very expensive. I would love to have more Sharpie markers, poster board and, the new favorite, decorative Duck tape, for the kids to use in class. It's amazing how the excitement over materials transfers to the excitement for their learning!
Engaging students in their learning becomes harder every year, it seems.
For good reason, incorporating art into lessons helps the students retain information and show their learning. Please partner with us to provide art supplies to our science class and help kids to engage more. I do believe there are matching funds available, so let's get this done!
