Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of my main goals as a teacher is to find creative ways to make history more fun, meaningful, and interactive for my students. Because of cost limitations, we aren’t always able to take field trips to see historical artifacts or visit museums — so next year, I’m focusing on bringing those experiences into the classroom.
I’ve found that my students are most engaged when they are actively involved in historical projects — whether they’re creating African tribal masks, doing “autopsy” projects on world dynasties and kingdoms, or designing World War I propaganda posters.
For students to truly understand and connect with history, it’s important for them not just to read about it, but to see it, create it, and bring it to life themselves.
