Do you remember what it was like when you first began to love reading? My students are at the brim of that discovery and need Nook eReaders to put them over the edge! Some of my students have never been exposed to books and the Nook eReader is an amazing way to start their journey.
My students are full of excitement about Kindergarten and being in school!
They are sweet and ready to learn new things every day. Our school is fairly new, it opened two years ago and is lacking many instructional materials and technology resources. Our school has a moderate poverty level, about 40% of our students receive a free or reduced lunch. My goal is to fill our classroom with the most technology possible to help our young students meet the goals of becoming 21st century learners and global competitors.
My Project
The Nook eReader is an amazing interactive tablet that allows us to download books in color!! It also has a special Nook Kids capability that allows us to download the latest children's picture books. Students can zoom into words and illustrations to help them investigate every inch of the story! There is also a "library" feature that allows the teacher to give students individual "shelves" to put their books on, this is amazing because it allows me to differentiate my instruction and give different books to different students! Amazing, I know! My favorite feature of all though is the "Read to Me" button. This allows even my students who aren't yet readers to enjoy the Nook. By pushing the "Read to Me" button the Nook will read the story to the student!! The Nook eReader will change the way that my students interact with books by allowing them to read independently and build their confidence as young readers. I will use these during Workshop, Guided Reading, and Accelerated Reader.
The Nook eReader will forever change the way that my students think about reading.
With the "Read to Me" function my students will be able to read independently. This is a huge step in Kindergarten. This will allow for my students who have never been exposed to books before to build confidence with sounds, words, and reading! Please help my students embrace books and find their joy for reading by donating to our project.
