Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 26 smart, creative, and motivated students. My students come from economically disadvantaged homes where English is usually the second language. I have a few homeless children that live in shelters and some that bounce from one home to another. It is amazing to think that even with these environmental challenges my students are still enthusiastic about learning and love coming to school.
My classroom is made up of students a various talents and abilities.
I have students that have been identified as gifted, but I also have students that are in special education. This makes my class really special. Having students with different abilities and talents allows each one of my students to learn from each other.
Our school is really special in that it focuses on the art and technology. Our students are learning how to play instruments, sing, dance, exposed to visual arts and theater. There is also an emphasis on technology with fully operating computer lab. Our students learn about power points, computer coding. All of this in a little school that is often surrounded by uncertainty and struggle.
My Project
The chromebooks will be used during small group instruction to help differentiate instruction. My struggling readers can use reading programs that help them with phonics and blending. My higher students will use the chrombooks to help with their fluency and comprehension. All of the students will use the chromebooks to help them create power points, work on upcoming research projects and presentations. One of the goals is to have all of my students reading and understanding what they read by the end of 4th grade. The second goal is to empower my students with technology so that they may be successful in their educational career.
