My Students
Do you remember middle school when you were young? For many of my students, going to school is the best part of their week! I teach in a wonderful neighborhood school. Our strong sense of community is felt by students, parents, teachers, and our administration.
As you enter our building, you are greeted by a sunny space decorated with gorgeous student artwork.
Down the hall, you hear lively, active students playing in the gym, singing in the chorus room, or being cozy with a book in our library.
My students are creative in a number of ways and love engaging in hands-on learning. In our classroom, we are explorers, writers, readers, thinkers, learners, and friends. I find that sitting still can be very difficult for many kids, especially towards the end of the school day. Learning activities that are exploratory, creative, hands-on, and experiential are the most engaging for my kids. Given the opportunity to express themselves, my students create magic!
My Project
My students would be overjoyed to receive a set of award-winning TOON graphics books for grades 3-5 for our very own classroom! These books will help to create the rich reading environment I strive to build for my readers. This year my students are working towards a 40 Book Challenge where they will read 40 books this school year. These books are incredible because they are award-winning graphic novels that are hugely appealing to my readers. These books will motivate my students to reach the 40 book goal.
I believe all students deserve brand new, engaging, high quality books to choose from each and every day in school.
Students will be able to choose from this incredible collection to enjoy reading every day. Each day, we set aside time for reading and the kids will simply be thrilled to have some new choices to pick from.
My students will be able to choose bright, brilliant new books that will interest them as individuals. Teachers and parents know that one of the best ways to increase reading motivation is to give kids choices. These new books will provide my students with so many new choices. They will be so excited. The books from this project will help enhance our classroom library and enrich my students' experiences with reading.
