Brilliance of Orchids: Building a Botany Bibliotheca
Help me give my students text resources that they can use to supplement their research, experimentation, and understanding of plant and orchid biology.

My Students
I work with an incredible group of high schoolers whose focus is on building their knowledge of marine ecosystems, the environment, sustainability, and conservation. Across the curriculum, students engage in thoughtful conversations about their impact in the world. They also engage in research that seeks to better understand that impact.
Our students love hands-on and relevant opportunities for them to hypothesize and experiment on how they can modify or even reverse the negative human impacts on their local marine and land ecosystems.
Our school endeavors to provide this to them.
Many of our students seek to take these experiences and channel them into degrees and professions that continue this marked impact in the world. Most of our students desire to be biologists, doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists, activists, and educators who research, work, and efforts make a lasting change that benefits the world and its human inhabitants.
My Project
As a part of my students' hands-on research of native orchid species, students will be asked to research and hypothesize effective growing methods and experiment these methods on their orchids.
In an effort to support this research, providing students with texts will ensure that students' research is tied to reliable, accurate, and peer-reviewed information.
Not only will these texts directly support orchid growing techniques, but they will also support learning of plant biology, morphology, native species, and common horticultural techniques. These texts will be the beginning of a botany library that will grow over time, ensuring that, not just my current students, but future students will benefit directly from this project.
