My students are curious, motivated and creative and they deserve to have a beautiful classroom to learn in. My students need to have their books organized and within their reach to continue to develop a love of reading.
The students in our classroom come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Our school is an inclusive setting that teaches students with disabilities in the same classrooms with students who are developing typically. My students are a diverse learning community that works together. Inclusive education means that children who reflect the demographics of the surrounding region, including children who develop typically, children with special needs and children who are gifted, learn side by side.The students love learning together and need the opportunity to share skills. My school's model allows for the individual needs of each child to be addressed in a manner that enhances each child's strengths.
My Project
My students spend time on our classroom rug area during whole group instruction, math centers and Daily 5. The students enjoy sitting together on the rug during partner activities and collaborative work. A new rug will give students each a square to sit in during whole group instruction. This will define their own space and support their attention while they learn. The new rug will brighten up our classroom and make our learning space more cheerful.The new bookcases will allow students easy access to our classroom library to instill a love of reading. With easy access to high interest books, students will practice decoding skills, sight words, reading fluency and reading comprehension. It is so important for students to find the books that inspire them to read for pleasure and become passionate about reading throughout their lives.
