Bright New Exciting Things

Help me give my students a bright new classroom that will be used for both virtual and in-class setting as we reopen our doors after months of being out of school due to the coronavirus.

My Students

I teach an amazing group of students in the promise zone of the West Philadelphia area. I'm so privileged to teach a mixture of students. I teach students who have learning disabilities who are just learning how to read as well as gifted students who all love to read. I love their enthusiasm when it's time to read and listening to the conversations that they have while reading. They also love being hands-on and being able to conduct different science experience. The joy that comes from watching one of your struggling students pick up on something and being involved is always a plus. They are a very talented bunch and are rising to the academic challenges that I place before them every day, as well as demonstrating their talents in other extracurricular activities such as art, music, and dance.

My Project

When schools shut down in March so did the homeliness of our classroom. With the reopening of schools, it is more important than ever to give my students the same kind of homeliness that they felt before they left. So much has changed for each of my students. New policies, new classrooms, new teachers, and they have all moved up a grade.

These decorations that I'm asking for will help bring light into a new place for each new student that walks through the classroom doors and even the students that I will be working with me virtually.

The use of the podium will keep me engaged with the students that are in front of me as well as the ones on computers. My students deserve the best and these items will help me give them that feeling of having the best from day one.
