Bright Minds and Bookshelves: Creating a Cozy Reading Corner

Help me give my students a cozy, organized reading space by providing a bookshelf to display our classroom library and a reading lamp to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that encourages focus, comfort, and a love of reading.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a passionate middle school teacher, I strive to create a classroom environment that is welcoming, organized, and conducive to learning. I am requesting a sturdy bookshelf and a soft-glow reading lamp to build a warm, inviting reading corner in my classroom.

Currently, my students’ books are scattered on countertops or stored in boxes, making it difficult for them to browse and engage with texts easily.

A dedicated bookshelf will not only organize our classroom library but also encourage students to explore a variety of genres with ease. By displaying books visibly and accessibly, I can foster a love of reading and allow students to develop independence in their book choices.

The lamp will add a warm ambiance that transforms a regular classroom space into a cozy retreat for focused reading, partner work, or quiet reflection. With the right lighting, students will be able to read comfortably without eye strain, especially during early morning or overcast days when classroom lighting feels harsh.

Together, these two items will elevate the learning environment and allow me to create a dedicated space where students feel safe, calm, and motivated to read. With your help, this reading corner will become a daily destination that supports literacy, builds focus, and cultivates lifelong learners.
