Vivid colors help to make learning come alive for my ESOL students.
My ESOL students come from a variety of different backgrounds.
Many of them are born in the United States. Others are just arriving. They are learning English as a second (or third) language. The majority of them are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. They are all eager to learn.
My Project
My students need a collection of color nonfiction sight word books and color ink. I will use the books during guided reading groups and with individual students. Each book targets a few basic sight words and covers a nonfiction topic. The colorful pictures will capture my students' attention.
The color ink will allow me to print additional books and visuals to teach new topics. Color captures the attention of my students. This is particularly important when introducing new vocabulary topics.
The brightly colored books, posters, and other visuals I am able to print out will help improve my ESOL students' reading and vocabulary knowledge.
Having these materials available in color will capture my students attention. The knowledge they gain will stay with them for many years to come.
