Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a K4 bilingual teacher in a public school in the Southside in Milwaukee. Developmental preschool is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold pencils and crayons.

My classroom has 25 students, distributed as follows, 4 and 5 years.

Some students receive the service for special education (speech therapy, behavior, assistance in academic areas such as reading, writing math). All my students are of low economic resources.

As my students make gains in my classroom, they begin to try small chunks of the day with their typically developing peers. My classroom is about building skills to get included. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day together helping to create strong bonds of trust, fun, colorful teaching based on our standards.

My Project

This project will help my students with support material for their materials. The colored pencils, all materials and the different things that are being requested will stimulate an environment full of color and joy for my children with bright minds.

Creating an atmosphere full of joy and color is one of the things that stimulates my students the most, as well as giving them a sense of belonging.

My students are very excited to hear about this project, just imagine their happy faces when these materials arrive. Help us meet another of our great goals!
