"If we teach today as we did yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." John Dewey's brief, but eloquent, statement has never rung more true than in this digital, information age.
My students are blessed to be part of a great rural community.
However, with a wide range of students coming from low socio-economic backgrounds or from homes where English is the second language, we are struggling to fill the gaps in their learning. Technology is not often found in many of these homes, let alone the chance for a child to explore and create using these digital devices.
My Project
You have the opportunity to brighten and expand horizons through this project. By providing an iPod for our classroom, you would allow students the chance to explore their world like never before, using programs such as Skype, Google Earth, QR-Codes, and various learning apps to help bridge the achievement gap. It is well known that high school and colleges are becoming more and more technology driven, and many of my students don't have the chance to learn how to use many of these devices. YOU can make a difference for these children and help them feel cared for and supported in their quest for a great education. I have seen children light up when someone believes in them and knows they can succeed. You will help prevent them from falling behind. Please, please consider donating to my cause.
It is a world of fast-paced, technology-driven do-ers.
YOU will provide the ability for children to become part of this by allowing them to compete in the jobs and markets of the future. We need your help.
