Bridging the Special Education Gap

My students need a laminator, to assist them in learning vocabulary words, and to assist in writing skills. They need fidget toys to keep their hands busy, while I try to keep their minds busy!

My Students

The students I serve are in a low-incident classroom in a neighborhood that is known to be one of the roughest in the city. Because of this, the resources in my area are limited. Most of my students have severe Autism, and there are also students with sensory disorders.

These students are bright but living in one of the roughest neighborhoods in Chicago can make learning difficult.

These students have hopes and dreams that they want to reach, that I want them to reach, and that there parents want them to reach. However, resources are needed to make this happen. I want these students to rise above their disabilities, and thrive. Thank you for your help in this mission!

My Project

Hi! The materials and equipment that I am asking for are essential to create a special education classroom that is conducive to learning, both academically and emotionally. The area that my school is in is in a rough neighborhood, and because of budget cuts, resources are tight.

These students are the students who need support the most, and resources are needed for that support.

These students have special needs that I currently do not have the equipment/resources for. As my students are in kindergarten and 1st grade, the year that they spend with me will be a foundation for them in the future, and will set the precedent for how they approach school in the future.

These students need fidgets to keep their hands busy, while their minds are busy learning! A laminator is essential for helping students learn words, and for assisting in writing skills that are essential in the classroom. As many of my students have autism, a regimented schedule is necessary, and we do not currently have a schedule holder.
