My Students
Low-income. Homeless. High poverty. These are words that people often use to describe our scholars.
However, the words people should concentrate on are: high achievers, determined learners, and creative thinkers.
We are scholars who have a hunger to learn, a passion for knowledge, and a need to succeed. We are looking to expand our critical-thinking skills, explore our creativity, and develop our talents for twenty-first century learning. We are looking to develop our gifts and talents and need your help to do so.
My Project
Many of my scholars are currently below grade level in literacy. As a class, we want to be life long readers but currently we have gaps in our knowledge. With these materials, we will be able to emphasize word work and help build an awareness of letter patterns.
By donating to this project you will help to scholars practice word work to increase their language knowledge.
With the letter recognition center we will continue to build our knowledge base of sounds. Using the magnetic letters, we will then put our phonics skills to use by building words. After learning how to sound out and spell words, we will work on writing stories that incorporate our new vocabulary. We will be using our new writing center and mini books to create stories to share with our families and school friends. By creating a fun new learning space with manipulatives scholars will be able to take their word work to a new level.
