With iPads, I can better differentiate my teaching into our mixed abilities classroom.
It is our job as teachers to accommodate various learning styles and to prepare our students for a fast paced and quickly changing society.
My classroom is comprised of a wide variety of academic needs from students who have been integrated from a self contained classroom with autism and specific learning disabilities to students that are in the talented and gifted program. All children deserve a right to learn to their full potential and with your help, my students will be able to confidently achieve the rigorous demands of 21st century skills while learning.
My Project
By using iPads, I can use apps to create lessons to reteach specific skills and create engaging supplemental practice. They can also be used to create enrichment projects and assessments that have students analyze, evaluate, and synthesize their learning. Not only will these iPads be a valuable tool to drive student instruction, but they will also be used for students to drive their own instruction. With access to this type of technology, students can watch digital lessons independently or in small groups. This will allow me to work more closely with specific students or groups of students. The iPads will allow my students to access a library full of books of various levels and genres. Students can read the digital books independently at their own pace or have a book read aloud to them. Struggling readers will be given an opportunity to become more confident readers, and advanced readers can enrich their reading by exploring topics beyond a basic classroom library.
Having an early start with technology in the classroom can be pivotal for the educational growth and development of our students.
The use of educational apps on the iPads will help my students to visualize, learn, and gain a deeper understanding of concepts. These devices are truly a valuable addition to classrooms especially in early education. The possibilities are endless with iPads in the classroom, and I hope my students will be given the opportunity to explore all of these possibilities!
