Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are remarkable, resilient, and determined to succeed despite the challenges they face. Many are newcomers to this country, speaking languages like Arabic, Spanish, and Mixtec, and they are learning to navigate not just a new school system but also a new language. In our classroom, they bring diverse perspectives and a desire to grow, but the language barrier often holds them back. It’s heartbreaking to see their enthusiasm waver as they struggle to keep up with their peers. This project is about giving them the tools they need to thrive and succeed alongside their classmates.
The translation devices in this project are game-changing.
These tools allow real-time, multilingual communication, helping students access lessons, assignments, and discussions as quickly as their peers. They can also use these devices to translate their own work, gaining confidence in their ability to express themselves. With these tools, understanding becomes instant, and the fear of falling behind fades away.
Additionally, the flexible seating options included in this project, like wobble chairs, are designed to enhance focus and engagement for students who need a more dynamic learning environment. These chairs have already proven to help students in other classrooms improve their attention and academic progress, and I hope to offer the same opportunity to my students.
