Bridging the Cultural Divide

Help me give my students a new variety of reading material to represent the vast cultures and voices that are in our school.

My Students

Our school is a celebration of all that is good in the world. Daily, we welcome children who have come from all over the world. We are an extremely diverse and inclusive site that celebrates the uniqueness in each child.

Acceleration of learning is the name of the game and our teachers are here for it!

My Project

As we continue in our new normal, our school site has taken this opportunity to harness the energy around diversity and celebrating all the cultures that are in our school.

Revamping our school libraries has been a top priority for our school.

Our school site has made a commitment to do our best to be intentional around our curriculum as well as the books that we provide the students. Knowing that seventy percent of children's books represent characters in the dominant culture, we are purposefully seeking out stories of the cultures that are normally silenced.
