Bridging Languages: Empowering Immigrant Students With Translation & Learning Tools

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students are recent immigrants or English learners who are working hard to adjust to a new language and culture. Due to budget constraints, we don’t have any teaching assistants to help with translation, making it difficult to provide individualized language support. Despite this, my students are determined to succeed and fully engage in their learning.
The Pocketalk translator will be a game-changer for our classroom.
Without the support of a translator, this device will allow us to communicate more effectively with students who are still learning English, helping them participate in class activities and discussions with confidence. The Spanish language posters will give students visual cues to support their language development, creating a bilingual learning space that makes them feel more comfortable. The calming corner posters will provide emotional support, helping students manage the stress and anxiety that often comes with navigating a new school and language.
The presentation clicker will help improve my instructional delivery, allowing me to keep students engaged during lessons without constantly needing to walk back to the computer. My goal with this project is to create a classroom environment where students feel supported in both their language learning and emotional well-being.
These tools will empower my students to overcome the language barriers they face and succeed in their education, despite the challenges posed by our limited resources.
