This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students will be doing a Project Based Learning unit on bridges. After learning about the forces that act upon bridges and the types of bridges, they will act as civil engineers for the state of Florida to design a bridge. Recently there was a hurricane that demolished an important causeway separating an island from the mainland. They will help solve this problem. They will build model bridges using K'NEX, explain why they think their bridge design would be able to hold weight, withstand a weather event, and include the engineering design process. They will also explain how having this bridge will help the residents of the island.
