This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal with this project is to allow my students to use these materials during our scheduled club time. I am one of the two teachers who run the "Bridge Club" at our school. Clubs are scheduled once every end of six weeks. This means they will only get an opportunity to attend the club six times during the school year. This is a time allotted for students to free their minds from regular content ( math, science, reading, etc.) and get creative with something that is of high interest to them and that truly inspires them. Students of ages 8-12 (3rd - 6th) that are enrolled in this club, requested to be in this club themselves, therefore these kids are very much interested in the construction and background of bridges. My students will be using these materials during their scheduled club time at our school to extend their knowledge of bridges in an exciting and creative way. In addition, it will give them hands-on experience with the design process and construction of (small-sized)bridges.
