This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are talented smart kids who are learning a second language to be able to become successful in life. My students come from different backgrounds and countries. Some of them have just come to this country and English can be a challenging task for them.

Help me give my students an easier bridge to a new language.

Our school is a Title I school and our funding is sometimes limited. We use a 90/10 model where we teach Spanish most of the time. As a second-grade teacher, I teach 80% in Spanish and only 20% in English. For Spanish, we have a curriculum for the whole school but for English, we do not. This program would help me tremendously in teaching my students how to read in English.
