Help me give my students the tools needed to be successful within their academics. I have chosen items that will help bridge the gaps created by the pandemic and provide them with interventions during our small group sessions.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hi, my students are beautiful, full of life, and love to learn.
Jefferson Elementary is a Title I school within Houston ISD.
Our school has over come many obstacles. Every year our scholars work hard and persevere.
At our school, 93% of our students are economically disadvantaged, 73% are considered At- risk youth, and 33% have Limited English Proficiency. Even through we have many disadvantages, our students still come to school every day to learn. They shine bright and strive for excellence in all they do.
Every student struggled through the pandemic and will have many gaps. Help me bridge these gaps and continue to strive for excellence in our daily work.
My Project
The pandemic has caused a disruption in our students way of learning. They have resiliently adapted to the new normal but unfortunately there will be gaps for all students. I have selected items that will help me conduct small group instruction that will help bridge these gaps and make our scholars successful. We focus so much on math and reading that we forget the fundamentals of science and social studies. I want to help bridge these gaps by including games and activities within our workstation time. I have included science exploration kits and geographic puzzles our students can continue to practice there skills even after our lesson has been taught.
With that being said, there is nothing more powerful to a student than having a teacher that is well prepared.
I have included items that will allow me an opportunity to plan every day and small group lessons effectively and be mindful of our time during class. It is important for a teacher to have time management and organizational skills to make their students successful.
