Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school and my students are excited to explore, to learn and to expand and broaden their horizons just to be given the opportunities that other children take for granted.
My students are sons and daughters of first generation immigrants who struggle sometimes to find the right path to success but they put forth maximum effort when given the right motivation.
They are unique in the sense that they are high achievers, despite facing the typical immigrant population challenges. Our overwhelming Hispanic population needs support but, given the right tools, will perform at a high level.
My Project
A simple laptop will spur a center that brings multiple programs to my students. On the one hand, my students will be able to use it for Robotics coding with VEX IQ. On the other hand, my students will have access to a variety of programs and applications such as Nearpod, Kahoot, Quizizz, Quizlet and BrainPOP. My students will therefore gain access to the lessons I have created for them. In fact, they will reap multiple benefits with a single device that will create a center that caters to their interest while reinforcing the lessons, thus bridging the gap between their actual performance today and their future potential. Additionally, this center will assist me in individualizing instruction by groups (Differentiated Instruction) whereby every student learns at their own pace, therefore optimizing learning while making it by making it relevant and specifically tailored to the needs and interests of my students.
