My Students
Like most third graders, mine have an insatiable need to explore technology. Unfortunately, our classroom has a limited amount of tech resources. This year, it is my goal to continue increasing the tech-inventory in our class.
I want my students to explore STEM while using their imaginations!
One of the ways the students will be exploring is this year is through blocks, bricks, gears, rods, and connectors to create moving dinosaurs, vehicles, amusement parks and whatever else their wonderful minds can fathom.
My Project
Hands-on materials like Legos and K'Nex are fabulous ways to enhance STEM lessons. These allows students to plan and build in a creative manner. While moving through the construction process, the students learn to work in teams with collaborative talk on how the make the project better. They will also learn to be problem solvers when the build doesn't go as planned and scientist that learn to experiment with new materials.
Many future careers will be centered around technology and engineering.
The choice of career will be up to the kids, but I want them to have choices and not be left behind because their teachers never introduced the possibilities.
