Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This innovative project unfolds as a journey that blends global perspective, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) principles, and the joy of building with LEGO.

Students will commence their exploration by delving into the rich tapestry of the Lunar New Year, unraveling its historical, cultural, and traditional significance.

The STEM component of the project introduces an exciting twist with LEGO integration. Participants will embark on hands-on activities that correlate engineering principles with Lunar New Year traditions, using LEGO bricks as their building blocks of creativity. Through designing and constructing LEGO models inspired by the holiday, students will not only apply engineering concepts but also develop spatial reasoning, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.

As part of the educational phase, students become educators themselves, crafting presentations or workshops using their LEGO creations to teach their peers and community about the Lunar New Year. This collaborative learning approach not only reinforces their understanding but also nurtures effective communication skills.

The project culminates in a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration where students showcase their LEGO STEM creations, share their cultural insights, and immerse themselves in festive activities. This finale serves as a testament to their acquired knowledge, engineering prowess, and cultural appreciation. "Brick by Brick" offers an engaging and dynamic learning experience, weaving together the art of LEGO building, cultural understanding, and STEM education in a celebration of creativity and diversity.
