Briarwood Elementary 6th Graders: Rising Readers

My students need reading materials to build comprehension, fluency, word and writing skills. These materials consist of various comprehension and vocabulary games

My Students

On May 20th, 2013 an F5 tornado tore through my classroom while I took cover in the hall with my students. I lost all classroom objects including my reading curriculum that I have built over the last ten years. Please help me rebuild my curriculum.

My students are 6th graders who exhibit a variety of reading levels.

During the school year, reading levels can range from 3rd through 12th grade. Students aged 11-12 have become lost into the "electronics" world and It is my job to mold and enhance their learning during their time at school. By building their independent reading levels, I can open their minds to the world of reading.

My Project

With the reading materials I have requested, I plan to incorporate intermediate literacy centers into my classroom. My intent is for the literacy centers to be a part of my reading curriculum on a daily basis. The centers will enhance whole group instruction for targeted reading objectives. Students will build reading comprehension leveled by enhancing the targeted reading objectives.

Donations to my project will provide a meaningful, lasting education to my students by providing them with the essential curriculum needed to learn.

In any given year, I teach 65-100 students. Your donation will expand over multiple classes each day.
