it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
About My Students
Our class is a small group of sports medicine students that participate in the medical magnet program during the day and volunteer after school hours as well. These students are at the top of their class academically and are off the charts when it comes to volunteer service hours worked! These kids voluntarily stay after school and assist the athletic training staff with the medical care of student athletes at our school. An ever growing bunch, these kids are leaders among their peers and are great role models in our school community!
Our students work in an environment where teamwork is everything! In the medical field, professionals work together to improve patient outcomes and help people! This project will help our students learn about working with others by building camaraderie and providing a platform for communication growth. The skill of communication will be taught in an applied setting. Students will learn about different types of communication and how to proplerly send and receive messages! Students will use the Keurig system as a catalyst to share a warm cup of hot cocoa or cider and stimulate free thinking and conversations while sitting in a comfortable and laid back environment. Once per week, our students will disconnect from their social media and electronics and they will have a cup of cocoa or cider and communicate directly with each other. This will increase their understanding of interpersonal skills and how to apply them!

Bella, a senior student says, "Our goals for this project are to disconnect from social media and electronics and converse with each other." Yamile adds, "Having the Keurig system will help us to unwind from stressful classes and allow us to practice communication skills like listening." Samantha added, "This project will help us bond and learn how to better understand each other."
"This leadership opportunity will help us to work on our communication skills. This opportunity can allow us to run the class in a way that will help us to learn more. We will be able to be in charge of this project and will feel better about ourselves because we came up with the idea and made it happen! The experience will prepare us for leading other projects in the future."
