My Students

My students are inquisitive and work hard to understand and connect with new ideas and concepts. They ask thoughtful questions, whether it is asking why something in history happened the way it did, considering "what if" scenarios, or simply wanting to know more details about a topic.

These voracious readers have some favorite books that are always nearby, but also love when new titles arrive in our classroom.

New books get snapped up quickly, then hardly sit on the shelf for an hour after being returned before someone new picks it up on a friend's recommendation. My students understand that books are to be experienced and shared, and are excellent at doing both.

My Project

My students need more variety in terms of the books available in our classroom library. In particular, we need more nonfiction books.

Having access to a greater selection of nonfiction books can help my students learn more about the world they live in, experience other points of view, and better understand the importance of historical events.

Many other genres are well-represented in our classroom library, but nonfiction, in particular, is a section that lacks interesting titles for my students to read. Help to provide my students with books on the many historical and scientific topics that they would love to read more about!
