My Students

I am excited I have the opportunity to teach First Grade! First Grade has been an exciting change after teaching Kinder for six years. I have 21 students in my class this year. Teaching such a young age group is a lot of fun! They have a lot of energy and are always excited/curious about life.

The year 2020 brought a lot of changes for not just adults but for children too.

Being afforded these great resources are important, essential learning tools to help students become masters of their social and emotional learning!

My Project

Creating a peace corner with a balance beam, a privacy cube, and sand timers in my classroom is vital this year. With everything that has happened in 2020, these little children’s world has been turned upside down. They feel stress and overwhelmed just like we do as adults. Children sometimes exhibit different behaviors than we do. By creating a classroom peace corner, students will be able to identify on their own when they need a break so they can come back refocused and ready to learn!

Our peace corner will be place of safety for students because they will know they can go there when they need to calm down and identify the emotion they are feeling.

This is why I feel a peace corner is so important to set up in my classroom.
