My Project
As an elementary school counselor, I see firsthand the impact of trauma on our students' lives, making it difficult for them to regulate their emotions and succeed at school. Our teachers also face immense challenges, often experiencing burnout as they strive to support our students effectively. It is crucial to bring healing to our school community to create a supportive and nurturing environment where everyone can thrive. Healing not only benefits the individual but also has a ripple effect, improving the overall well-being and academic success of our students. I am passionate about supporting our teachers and students in their journey towards not only academic success, but also mental well-being.
Breathe for Change is a yoga teacher training program that will equip me with the skills to bring mindfulness tools, social-emotional learning strategies, and yoga practices that support my students and educator well-being.
Through this program, I hope to bring healing, balance, love, and joy to not only students, but my colleagues that immensely struggling with balancing their passion for teaching and children, and the burnout, stress and trauma that comes along with working in a Title I school.
