This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are wonderful! They have big hearts and they need a healthy and happy school to come to for learning. Approximately 70% are English Language Learners and over 90% are economically disadvantaged. Therefore, these students need a highly warm and structured environment of teachers that can give it their all and let them know that they can achieve.

I want to make a difference by bringing Breathe for Change to my school in the form of Yoga practices and Social-Emotional lessons to help all students and teachers have the tools to cope with daily stresses.

By donating anything you feel that you can it will help those in need. We are all connected. And, you help society and yourself by doing so. You never know who you will depend on and you can never feel bad about helping others. I believe our lives are about helping others and that is why I went into teaching after 9/11. I was an International Flight Attendant in New York City for American Airlines and I realized that I wanted to do something to make a difference so I went into teaching.

My Project

I am a PE teacher at a high needs school in Austin. Simply, my students and teachers need the tools of yoga and social-emotional tools to thrive and succeed mentally. As a PE teacher and health champion, I can bring this training to my classes and to teachers during meetings and before and after school assemblies/classes/workshops.

Many of the teachers and students I have talked to do not have the time and money for training I would bring to the school.

I want to be able to bring it to them so that both teachers and students can be more successful at school!
